Who We Are

The Acupuncture Association of Victoria Inc.

The Acupuncture Association of Victoria (AAV) was the first acupuncture association in Australia, established in 1972 as a democratic association of professional acupuncturists.

A non-profit organisation registered with the Australian Government, the AAV was formed by a group of Allied Health Practitioners interested in the profession of Acupuncture. A multi-disciplinary organisation governed by a Constitution and a Code of Ethics, the AAV recognises and assists the requirements of specialist modality practitioners.

Since its inception the AAV, inter alia, has lobbied for the registration of Acupuncture and its integration into mainstream healthcare.

The core objectives of the AAV have been to integrate Acupuncture into mainstream medicine by promoting Acupuncture and it’s associated modalities to public and professionals alike whilst maintaining high ethical and professional membership standards.

Working with Governments, Researchers, Educators, Health Funds, WorkCover Authorities Professional Organisations and like-minded bodies. AAV primarily represents the interests of Acupuncturists, however the following modalities are also represented amongst our health practitioners:

The AAV is proud of it’s contribution in achieving results and successful outcomes with respect to it’s core objectives and invites appropriately qualified practitioners to join by contacting the association secretary using the online form on the ‘Contact Us‘ page.
